More About Me
I've been a musician since 11, when I started learning to play the piano. I purchased my first guitar and joined a jazz band when I was 13, in the month of October. By December I was smitten with the instrument and dedicated enough time to my practicing and exploring that I had made the first chair position for electric guitar at Kay's Studio in Sullivan, MO. I briefly played in the bluegrass band as a rhythm acoustic guitarist before the program was discontinued.
In my time at Kay's Studio I continue to play electric guitar while also exploring tenor saxophone in the concert band, piano independently, and bass as a hobby instrument when they needed the extra bassist. When I graduated the studio's programs, after four years, I continued to play and learn, exploring more musical theory and more varied genres. I began teaching private lessons on request in the summer of 2016, in my home studio. I've taught upwards of 20 students through private and group lessons since then.

In 2018 a local shop offered to allow classroom space for group lessons, and I became one of four teachers at the Ozark Music Group, living at 634 South Bishop Ave. in Rolla. There I taught Guitar I, II, and III as well as hosted a weekly jam session for any interested musicians to join on a weekly basis. As the shop hosting us closed, instructors veered away to their own private lessons again and I returned to teaching from my home studio, where I have since taught private guitar and piano lessons as well as continued to host a small, informal jam session. The studio room is equipped with guitar and bass amps, a keyboard, a pedal rig, chairs, stands, and plenty of instruments.

In my spare time I play mostly pop and rock music, with blues and some Broadway piano tunes entering the mix on occasion. I've retained most of the skills and improvisation learned in my time with the jazz program and continue to improve my own abilities to lead through improvisation and utilize more complex chord structures. In addition to my musical exploits I am a full time college student at Missouri S&T, studying psychology, a part time employee at a department store in town, and a part time entrepreneur through my lessons and my Etsy shop for my custom, handmade goods.
